Who I Am
I’m BowTiedOdin. I am a polyglot, lifelong traveler, and educator with over a decade of experience across five languages. I’ve lived and studied on multiple continents, done two senior years of high school in two different countries, and spent the years since teaching hundreds of students to become conversational in their target language, most of them in 12 weeks or less.
I’m part of the BowTied Jungle, a decentralized community of anonymous experts who share their knowledge with the world. The anonymity is the point: either the information I provide is accurate, helpful, and illuminating, or it isn’t. No amount of credentials or selfies will change that. The work speaks for itself.
Why This Exists
The public education system destroyed the way most people think about language learning. It convinced an entire generation that becoming bilingual takes years of study, that you need to master grammar before you can speak, and that some people just “aren’t language people.”
None of that is true.
I built Second Language Strategies to prove it. Over the past three years, I’ve published 250+ articles breaking down exactly what works. The same strategies I use with my private students to get them speaking, reading, writing, and thinking in a new language faster than they ever believed possible. The free content alone has attracted thousands of subscribers. The paid content and private courses have changed lives.
