What should you focus on when you are getting started?
Welcome, aspiring polyglot! With how many language learning strategies there are floating around the internet, it can be difficult to pick and choose what to apply. Not only this, but it can also vary depending on what point of your language learning journey you are in currently. At the beginning, there is often a feeling of having too much to focus on and not enough time to do it all.
Having short term goals will help you break it up and feel the progress you are making in every step. Fortunately, these short term goals can easily be extrapolated into medium and long term goals using the right framework. Adding these things into your language learning process will enhance and accelerate the experience.
Perfect short term goals
Your goals when you get started are going to be vastly different than your goals after you have been studying for a while. At first, you are going to be almost entirely focused on trying to understand the stimulus you are confronted with day in and day out. Later on you will be more focused on creating stimulus and doing what you can to make it as perfect as possible. While you are the beginning stage, comprehensible input is the name of the game.
